QRE Carnival
FUNtastic QRE 2014
The QRE Carnival, organized by Hopewell Real Estates Agency Ltd, a subsidiary of Hopewell Holdings Ltd., was held from 15th to16th November (2pm to 6pm) at the Open Piazza of Hopewell Centre. Families and friends from local community and other districts enjoyed the carnival with a serious of playful games:
a colorful and amusing pirate ship bouncer, game booths,
a photo booth, live music and funky dance performance
and free tasting.
The carnival was officiated by Mr. Suen Kai-cheong, Chairman of the Wan Chai District Council, Mr. William Wong, Executive Director of Hopewell Holdings Ltd, Mr. Chan Wing Kin, Principal of Hong Kong Tang King Po College, Mr. Scott Chan, young local artist and Miss Janet Chow, TV artist.
In the opening ceremony of the carnival, Mr. William Wong, Executive Director of Hopewell Holdings Ltd. said, “The Queen’s Road East Festival has been launched since 2010 aiming enhancing community cohesion through the series of fun-filled family entertainments and eco art jam activities. The festival also provides the opportunity for people from local and other districts to share a wonderful experience of “East meets West” culture of Wan Chai. Mr. Wong also expressed his gratitude to the stakeholders, including Wan Chai District Council, schools, NGOs and business partners/tenants along Queen’s Road East, in supporting the festival over the years.
This year, the festival invited the post-80s local artist Mr. Scott Chan to coach more than 30 students from one of the secondary schools in Wan Chai, Hong Kong Tang King Po College to create 7 art pieces themed “nature” and “mood” by used daily materials. Scott shared his views on art creation with the students, “We can find art in everyday life including some of the used materials, which record the daily life of an individual and also the history of a place. Our creativity and imagination can turn those used materials to unique art pieces. Students and Scott’s art works have been exhibited in the Open Piazza of Hopewell Centre from 31th October to 28th November 2014.
